ABOUT THE MONASTERY
Vozućica Monastery is an Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Holy Trinity and is located about 5 kilometers from the Vozuća village in the municipality of Zavidovići. It is the endowment of King Dragutin. The monastery was first mentioned in 1617, although it was probably founded in 14. century.
After being abandoned in 1690, during the Ottoman conquests, it remained empty more than a century. It was rebuilt twice during the 19th century, between 1856 and 1859, and in 1884. An elementary school was built in the monastery in 1858, but it was closed 1894. That year, a wooden bell tower was built next to the monastery church. The monastery was severely damaged during the wars, but was rebuilt each time. The Vozuća Monastery was declared a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2004.
